What do you do when your child is sick?

sick with a cold, gets fevers and belly aches? everytime my daughter gets sick-feels like the first time..I know how to handle the fever-but would like your tips on anything having to do with colds etc..and why my baby 1yrs n'5 month old keep getting sick? Thanks to anyone who can offer advice.pls i really need advice

I take my kid to the doctor when they may need antibiotics only-not for every sniffle...I'm looking for good ways to take care of her at home..doctors cant cure colds -and you cant overdo the antibiotics.

You should always treat every sniffle/cold/flu symptoms seriously-they could be signs of something else such as meningitis, West Nile, and others. I would go and see an Ear/Nose/Throat doctor/specialist as the biggest problem my son had from 1-3 years was chronic sinus and ear infections caused by his tonsils/adnoids. Once I made the decision to have them surgically removed by the doctor, my child ceased to be ill and rarely gets an infection. I wished I had known better before he turned 3, would have saved a lot of trips and antibiotics. Consult a specialist-don't take these sniffles for granted.

I agree with the rest. Don't worry, sis. As most moms say, you will be visiting the pedia every now and then until your child turns 4.

God bless, kapatid.

no wonder, i haven´t seen you for weeks. i understand what you´re going through. being a mother of 4 kids. i´m grateful to God, my kids weren´t sickly. that´s the advantage pag many siblings..their resistance is strong. all your friends have given you every advice that´s helpful and necessary. i can only pray that your kid will get over it soon. here´s a good news to that: i´ve read that it´s better for small kids to get those sickness ~colds and fever at that age~ they can get immuned to it later. so don´t worry too much, you have to be strong, your kids need you more than you know

I always went to the doc when my kid was ill, especially when kids are to small to speak and to show what's wrong. A good doc always try without antibiotics first but sometimes it is necessary.
So how is your lil girl? Is she doing better? Hope she will get well soon. Take care

Praise the Lord. Praise Jesus.
And with his stripes we are healed
"

To preach the good news. That I believe in my heart maging successful siya sa buhat niya. Sana lagi kayong manalangin sa Diyos.

Water and lots of fresh fruit juices.
And chicken soup really can fight a cold. It helps to clear mucus from nasal passages, and the broth contains a substance that has been shown to inhibit the common cold virus.
Try it babe:)

let me recount what happened to JG while he was:

4 months old, started to get sick: viral lbm becoz of the solid foods i gave;

7 months old, started to get flu, colds, cough and minor sickness

2 weeks before he became 1 year old, he was hospitalized, so he was diagnosed na mag-ti-tigdas pala after flu which reached almost 40

when he was 3 years old, he was always having cough, colds & flue specially in the afternoon, he was in his nursery class then, then he was diagnosed to have weak lungs. so there were series of x-rays and he drank meds for his primary complex.

then at 5 years old, his nose started having bleedings, kahit natutulog, biglang dudugo ilong and i am so afraid, grabe this valentines day.

he is now 9 years old, all were not occuring, i hope not anymore, i hope & pray all sickness were ruled-out.

so with these:

try mo pa-xray anak mo baka naman weak din ang lungs; have blood chem too; dengue signs are continous fever and stomach aches....be aware of these things.

hope i did share. mahirap pag bata ang maysakit.

You are a very loving mother and that is the first and best for a sick child. All the normal things, are mainly keeping baby comfortable, not too hot not too cold,if baby is having tummy aches ,a warm hot water bottle to the tummy often helps, same with ear pain.If baby has a stuffy nose,I'm sure you keep it clean, but sometimes keeping them elevated a little will make breathing easier, and a humidifier in the room often helps,or a vaporizer if there's much congestion.Mostly watch for any signs of fever ,rash, keep baby hydrated,if signs of vomiting, diarrhea,or any labored breathing, don't wait, take baby to pediatrician. There is so much that can happen to the little ones.Their little bodies lose fluid weight too easily. These are some of the things I did and still do with my children and grandchildren.Follow your mother's instinct,God blesses us with that. You have a beautiful family-God bless you all

I am terrified each time my kids get sick when they were young coz they couldnt talk so i just dont give them any medication coz they may be allergic to it or I dont want to play a smart ass that i can prescribe meds to my kids without the doctor's advice. I believe in doctors, most of all, my pedia and i will never take my kids' sickness for granted. We may think its just a cold or a flu but you will really never know and with that, i cant gamble. I go to the docotor and have them checked to be sure.

I am an experienced mom dear so i hope you will listen to me. Take care and i will keep you in my prayers.

Normal lang yan that sometimes little kids get colds especially during weather changes. Ang importante lang you do not expose your kid to people who smoke.

My son when he was a baby, talagang nagkaroon siya ng primary complex at saka may hika. He was suffering then from respiratory allergies. I had a terrible experience... really with a sick kid. Every now and then nasa doctor kami. He's now a grown up man but I can't forget how difficult it was to take care of of him when he got sick.
